Currently building Future Mississauga and InvestmentRegulation.ca.
One lets you explore a changing city. The other helps you learn Canadian investment regulation from the beginning.
Current project · 3D visual atlas
I taught myself Blender to see how Mississauga’s new buildings and transit fit together. Future Mississauga brings together skyline pictures, neighbourhood comparisons and an interactive 3D model.
Built with my own modelling, City data, project drawings and some downloaded models. It is an independent, ongoing project: proposed buildings are not guaranteed, and schematic or uncertain details are marked.
02 / InvestmentRegulation.ca · Free and open source
I built this because the official CIRE material tells you what to know, but does not teach it from the beginning.
The site turns the syllabus into 69 plain-language lessons, flashcards, practice rounds and a full mock exam. It starts with “What is investing?” and works up to the material people are expected to know for the exam.
It is free and open source. There is no account, and study progress stays in the person’s own browser.

Stage: physical prototype · Informal classmate testing
One person lays out a pattern of shapes on a board. The other person looks at it, the board gets covered, and they try to put it back the same way. You score on how close you got, not how fast you were.
I made the board and the tiles by hand. The hard part was working out how many shapes to use, too few and nobody gets it wrong, too many and nobody gets it right.

Stage: completed · Working crane, experiment and project website
If you wrap wire around a piece of metal and run electricity through it, the metal turns into a magnet. Turn the electricity off and whatever it was holding drops. I built a small crane that works this way.
Then I changed one thing at a time, more wire, more electricity, a different metal in the middle, and wrote down what each change did. The whole thing is a webpage instead of a folder in my room.

Stage: submitted to Raycast · Automatically closed without merge
Raycast lets you run things on a Mac by typing instead of clicking. Craft is where I keep my notes. There was no way to send a task from one to the other without stopping and switching apps, so I wrote the piece of software that does it.
I offered it to Raycast to include in their app. They didn't take it. It works, and anyone can read the code.

You hold down a key and a wheel of options appears around your cursor. I put together a set for the Mac apps I'm in every day and put it online. Fourteen people I've never met have saved it.
